At Tu Family Clinic Wound Care Center, every patient begins with a comprehensive wound assessment. This involves a thorough evaluation of the wound's size, depth, location, and the condition of surrounding tissues, along with a detailed review of the patient's medical history to identify underlying factors that may impede healing, such as diabetes or vascular issues. This initial in-depth analysis is crucial for developing an accurate diagnosis and a highly individualized treatment plan.
We utilize a wide array of advanced wound dressings designed to optimize the healing environment. These specialized dressings go beyond traditional bandages, offering features like moisture balance, infection control, pain reduction, and protection from external contaminants. The selection of the appropriate dressing is tailored to the specific type of wound, its stage of healing, and the patient's needs, promoting faster and more effective recovery.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy is an advanced treatment that uses controlled suction to promote wound healing. A vacuum pump connected to a sealed dressing on the wound site helps remove excess fluid, reduce swelling, increase blood flow, and stimulate the growth of new, healthy tissue. This therapy is particularly effective for complex, chronic, or large wounds that are slow to heal, accelerating the closure process.

For challenging wounds that struggle to close, we offer bioengineered tissue grafts. These are advanced biological or synthetic materials that mimic human skin or tissue, providing a scaffold for the body's own cells to grow and regenerate. These grafts can help to cover open wounds, promote granulation tissue formation, and stimulate the natural healing cascade, leading to improved wound closure and functionality.

Debridement is a critical step in wound care, involving the removal of dead, damaged, or infected tissue from the wound bed. At our center, we perform both sharp debridement, using surgical instruments for precise removal, and ultrasonic debridement, which uses high-frequency sound waves to gently and effectively remove unhealthy tissue while preserving viable tissue. This process is essential to reduce infection risk, promote healthy tissue growth, and prepare the wound for optimal healing.

Total contact casting is a specialized technique primarily used for diabetic foot ulcers. A custom-made cast is applied to the lower leg and foot, distributing pressure evenly across the entire foot and offloading the ulcerated area. This immobilization and pressure redistribution reduce stress on the wound, protect it from further injury, and create an ideal environment for healing, significantly improving outcomes for neuropathic ulcers.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) technology harnesses the body's own healing power. A small sample of the patient's blood is processed to concentrate platelets, which are rich in growth factors essential for tissue repair and regeneration. This concentrated PRP is then applied directly to the wound, stimulating cellular growth, promoting angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), and accelerating the natural healing process for chronic or non-healing wounds.

Our Limb Preservation Services are dedicated to preventing amputations and maintaining the functionality of compromised limbs, especially in patients with complex conditions like severe diabetic foot complications or advanced vascular disease. This comprehensive approach involves early intervention, aggressive wound management, infection control, revascularization strategies, and close collaboration with specialists to save the limb and preserve mobility and quality of life.
