Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at woundcaretufamily@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

While most wounds heal naturally over time, non-healing wounds (also known as chronic wounds) need specialized treatment. These are skin injuries that haven't fully closed within about six weeks, often with damage to surrounding tissues. Wound care is the specialized medical service dedicated to the comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment of these complex sores and wounds that will not heal.

Our experienced team, led by Dr. Barry Nemati, treats a variety of non-healing wounds. This includes, but is not limited to: diabetic foot ulcers, wounds from cancer treatment, pressure injuries (bed sores), non-healing surgical wounds, arterial and venous ulcers, traumatic wounds, burns, and compromised flaps and grafts.

A wound is considered non-healing or chronic if it doesn't close completely within approximately six weeks. Factors that can prevent a wound from healing include insufficient blood or oxygen supply, infections, a weakened immune system, and tissue swelling around the wound.

Our team focuses on diagnosing and treating these underlying issues.

While some insurance plans may require a referral, we encourage you to contact us directly to discuss your insurance coverage or specific situation. Our goal is to make advanced wound care accessible to those who need it.

We offer a full spectrum of advanced treatments tailored to your needs, including comprehensive wound assessments, advanced wound dressings, Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), bioengineered tissue grafts, debridement (sharp and ultrasonic), total contact casting, and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) technology.

NPWT is an advanced treatment that uses controlled suction (a vacuum pump connected to a sealed dressing) to promote healing. It helps remove excess fluid, reduce swelling, increase blood flow, and stimulate the growth of new, healthy tissue, especially for complex or slow-healing wounds.

PRP technology uses your body's own healing components. We process a small blood sample to concentrate platelets, which are rich in growth factors. This concentrated PRP is then applied directly to the wound to stimulate cell growth, promote new blood vessel formation, and accelerate the natural healing process.

Yes, we offer dedicated Limb Preservation Services. These programs are designed to prevent amputations and maintain the functionality of limbs, particularly for patients with conditions like severe diabetic foot complications or advanced vascular disease.
